The following ideas and strategies may not be for everyone for obvious reasons. One main reason being that not many people like using single shot weapons(M14, G3), but there is something here for everyone. I'm going to discuss some things that have helped me win rounds, earn large amounts of points, and most importantly have loads of fun!
Silencers and why: One of the most underestimated attatchments in the game, and why it should be used as much as possible.
Main reasons people DON'T to use a silencer: Less damage, less range, and lack of red dot or other aim enhancing attachment.
More important reasons why you SHOULD use a silencer and how to make it work: You may not think about it when you're playing, but everytime you fire an unsilenced weapon, you appear on your enemy's radar for a few seconds as a red dot. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I use that radar constantly and I will give that little radar credit for at least %50 of my kills, which would mean %50 of my "unsilenced" enemy's deaths, which would include you if you don't use a silencer.
I'll admit, the silencer can lead to many frustrating instances when you feel the enemy should have dropped but for some unknown reason, your 15 bullets to the chest just didn't do the trick. TRUST ME, the occasional frustrations are worth the reward of using a silencer.
IMPORTANT: Most weapons are HORRIBLE with a silencer, mainly because when you look down the barrel of your gun with L1 much of your view blocked is by the guns metal design, as opposed to the amazingly clear view when you equip your gun with a red dot, too bad you can't use both :smileysad:. I would only recommend a few weapons for use with a silencer.
THE FOLLOWING IS BASED ON THE WEAPON WITH NO PERKS EQUIPPED.
M4 - Easy to look down barrel with a silencer, but lack of damage requires a large amount of bullets to bring down enemy resulting in low ammo too quickly.
M16 - A very effective silenced weapon that takes 2-3 full bursts to bring down an enemy, also very easy to look down the barrel, none of your view is obstructed by the weapons structure.
G3/M14 - I would not recommend using a silencer with these unless you are very efficient using single shot weapons. Especially with the M14 because the site on this gun obstructs MOST of your view making it very difficult to engage in a gun fight with multiple enemies at once.
AK47 - Simply amazing silenced weapon, beautiful view down the barrel and a powerful weapon when silenced which takes very few shots to drop your opponent, I would recommend double tap when using this weapon because it is fairly slow compared to the other assault rifles.
G36c - This weapon is also a very effective silenced weapon, very similar to the M4 only more powerful, always have this one in one of my classes.
PERKS THAT MAKE A SILENCER WORTH IT: A silenced weapon is little good without the proper perks to add a nice strong touch.
Perk slot #1
I don't have advice for what perks to use here, I usually have a 2 classes with rpg's to take down Helicopters and 3 classes with 3x grenades, and the occasional extra ammo perk, but this set of perks really doesn't affect your stealth abilities.
Perk slot #2
Stopping power: Almost a must with the M4, as it is weakened by the silencer, other than that, any of the guns could use this perk to shave off the use of a few bullets per kill.
Double tap: Careful with this one, makes it easy to go through your ammo in a flash, especially since you don't hear your bullets leaving your gun as loudly, I would only use this for the AK47 and maybe the M16 since it's only a 3 shot burst.
UAV Jammer: Another very useful perk to go along with silenced weapons, although it does take away from weapon enhancing perks, if you have this perk and a silencer, your character will NEVER the ENTIRE GAME show up on your enemy's radar, which is a superior advantage on any game type for obvious reasons.
Overkill: This is my favorite perk to use with a silencer, for 2 reasons. The first reason, is if you pack a sniper rifle as your primary weapon, you will have a guille suit, then equip a silenced weapon as your secondary and you are invisible, almost literally, on the outdoor weedy maps. The main downside is that you cannot combine this with the UAV Jammer, so you are bound to show up on the radar at some point. Second reason, sometimes it is difficult to drop an enemy with a silenced weapon from a distance, this is where you make a decent long range weapon your secondary and equip it with a red dot, for those few occasions where you are willing to show up on radar using your loud weapon to get a long range kill.(I would recommend M14 because of it's dropping power without any perks)
Perk slot #3
Extreme Conditioning: I like to use this perk with a silenced weapon because it allows you to quickly get behind enemy lines and under cover quickly, especially with the guille suit equiped.
Steady Aim: This is the one I use most with my silenced weapons. Because of the fact that it can be difficult to see down your barrel at close range, having this perk GREATLY increases close-mid range accuracy when not looking down your barrel. It has also been a lifesaver when I unexpectedly run into an enemy and am too close to use the barrel view. An all around good perk for any situation.(Much more useful than last stand or martyrdom, as the objective is to stay alive)
Dead Silence: I have never had a problem sneaking up on an enemy from behind so I do not see the use of this perk.(my psn name does happen to be mr_sneaky)
Eavesdrop: Fun but not too useful except in maybe search and destroy and clan wars, otherwise it's just a waste of what could be a useful perk slot.
Another helpful hint. For those of you that like to move around alot, it is always an option to use the Overkill perk and set your primary weapon as an SMG. This will set your mobility to very high(faster walking and running and can run more often) and then set your secondary weapon as your desired weapon of choice. This can be very useful in Sabatoge when you wish to get to the enemy base to plant the bomb quickly or rush back to defend your own. Even better when the Extreme Conditioning perk is used.
